Meet the Artist
Per Ehrling Svanberg took up oil painting seriously when he retired as a clinical psychologist from the NHS. He was then known as P.O. (Per Olof) Svanberg and was for many years Head of the Clinical Psychology service in Sunderland, UK.
He developed and ran the highly successful Sunderland Infant Programme and when that was closed down he worked for the Department of Health in the Family Nurse Programme. He was awarded an OBE in 2008.
After retirement, he developed The Parent-Infant Interaction Observation Scale (PIIOS) in collaboration with the University of Warwick.
To separate this career with his pursuit as an artist he adopted his mother’s maiden name Ehrling.
He now lives with his wife in Worthing, UK.
Portrait by Ted Poole of a very concentrated oil painter!
